EP MedSystems Announces Sales of Product from Off Shore Manufacturing Facility
WEST BERLIN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--EP MedSystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EPMD - News), a market leader in electrophysiology products used in cardiac rhythm management, announced that it has began shipping certain EP catheters to its customers from its offshore manufacturing efforts in Mexico.
EP MedSystems' President & CEO Reinhard Schmidt commented: "We are pleased that we have successfully completed the transition of moving the manufacturing of these catheters in support of our growth and competitive market goals. This represents the next step in the execution of our earlier announced strategy of outsourcing certain catheters products to achieve higher production capacity and lower cost." Mr. Schmidt continued, "We expect a savings of over 25% in labor costs related to these price sensitive products. We will continue to manufacture our higher margin consumables and electronic components in West Berlin New Jersey."
